I posted in FB of my intention to organize a workshop in Kota Kinabalu on early Nov and to my surprise, the respond were quite encouraging.

This is what I posted.

When the respond was quite good, I took no time and frantically re-source for contacts to coordinate this event. I did ask a friend to check it out and he passed it over to a tour agent but seems like after 2 weeks still no reply. Therefore, I assumed that it’s too small a biz to headache on for them.

Quickly I asked another friend and within 24 hours I received reply with draft cost and draft itinerary. I was a bit down when I see the number coz it has reached for figure per pax.

I want it to be below four figure so that it will be very affordable for this introductory fee. It will be my first in Borneo and I want it special. I’m not looking at profit, enuff to cover my flight, accommodation, transport and food. A little bit extra for souvenir would be great too.

So now, we are negotiating with few other resorts and cut down activities and places to visit. After all, it is a photography workshop and not so much of photo-tour or “Jalan-jalan Kenali Malaysia” kinda trip.

When I really look at it, it’s a blessing in disguise too, coz by cutting down places, we’re not only save on cost but also travelling time. So now I have ample time to explain some theories and adequate time for participant to practise as well. Else, it might be a rush event that covers a lot but lack of depth.

Eventho I cut down places, but it won’t be lacking of subject to shoot or practice on.

I’m keeping my finger crossed that I would be able to see the cost that I am expecting which will translate less than RM1k course fee per pax for participant.

Some people might argue by saying that it is still too expensive. If that’s the case, I cannot help much anymore coz it is a residential 3D2N which include lodging, transport and meals. Even if I do a simple calculation of half day module photography workshop that cost around, let say, RM250, i-Nature has 3D2N that equal to 7 half-day modules = 7 x 250 = RM1,750 and cost of lodging, meal and transport is still not included!

Enuff ranting…  just watchout for the good news and this will be one time only for the introductory of i-Nature in Borneo!
